Founded in Osaka in 1969 URC (Underground Record Club) was among Japan's first independent record labels in the post war era. Artists who recorded for the label couild largely skirt the restrictions of major labels regarding politcally sensitve lyrics. They began selling the records directly to customers and to record stores bypassing the usual distribution channels. The director was Yoshio Hayakawa of Jacks, one of the first underground bands in Japan. Their independent spirit attratcted many pioneering artists of the underground folk scene from both Tokyo and the Kansai area. This section contains three series, the 50 year anniversary re-releases, reissues on LP and cassette, the third on UHQCD, cardboard sleeve, mini-LPs with bonus tracks.
