Shakuhachi player Shozan Tanabe plays compositions by American composer Marty Regan. Regan (born 1972) has steadily made a name for himself as a composer of works for Japanese traditional music. Most of the tracks, except for the title track) were commissioned by Tanabe at the 2008 World Shakuhachi Festival in Sydney. Tanabe's shakuhachi is accompanied by an excellent ensemble featuring Miki Maruta (shamisen), Atsuko Kida (seventeen string koto), Gen Takeuchi, Etsuko Hirano (violin), Saeko Wakiya (viola) Masabumi Sekiguchi (violincello), Keizo Mizoiri (contrabass) Includes English liner notes.
