As well as Japan's most vibrant 'roots' music scene, Okinawa is also home to a new wave of indie groups, some of which are compiled onto this CD. The music is mostly punk and hardcore, by groups including In-Hi, The Junky Jap Dogs, Ryukyu Free Style, and a version of the Okinawan traditional children's song, "Chon Chon Kijimuna" by The Beatle Crusher. Excellent snapshot of what is an exciting scene.
