Performed in 2004 at Setegaya Public Theatre in Tokyo, produced by Mansai Nomura.Kyogen, 'human comedy' is a style of spoken drama, and along with noh, bunraku and kyogen, one of the four classical theatre arts of Japan. It is played on the same stage as noh, but the actors don't usually wear masks. Mansaku Nomura is a Living National Treasure while his son, Mansai Nomura is the director of Tokyo's Setagaya Public Theatre. He also acts in Shakespeare plays and Greek tragedies, and often tries to combine east and west, classics and contemporary. He recently performed Sambaso, on this DVD, in New York.
