Act VIII. Michiyuki Tabiji no Yomeiri, The Bride's Journey, is a michiyuki dance in which Tonase, the wife of Honzo, the man who prevented Enya Hangan from killing the evil Morono, leads her stepdaughter along the Tokkaido highway, linking Edo in the east with Kyoto in the west, passing Mount Fuji along the way. Act IX, Yamashima Kankyo, The Retreat at Yamashima, is set in the middle of winter when Kakogawa Honzo's wife Tonase, and daughter Konami arrive in Yamashina near Kyoto. However, Yuranosuke's wife is adamant that Konami and Rikiya will not marry. They decide to commit suicide, but Honzo, disguised as a priest pulls the spear into his own stomach, to atone for restraining Hangan from killing Morono.
