The shakuhachi is the Japanese end blown bamboo flute. The komosu (wandering priests) developed the instrument and music. They wore baskets on their heads and can still be occasionally seen on the streets of Japan. The original Kyoto komosu group was known as the Myoan school. The teachers in Tokyo called it kinko.
