The real memoirs of a Geisha. Documentary about a geisha, Minako III (1919-2010), the last geisha carrying 350 years tradition of Yoshiwara Geisha. Yoshiwara, was the famous and walled-in pleasure quarters of Tokyo, which flourished for centuries before prostitution laws closed it down in 1958. Men with money, from all levels of society, were entertained by geisha (non-prostitute entertainers). Minako was a geisha who entaertained guests at a tea house through playing shamisen, singing and dancing. She started to work in Yoshiwara at the age of eleven and continued to perform until she died at the age of 90. This DVD was filmed from July 2005 until January 2010, and features twenty traditional performances from Yoshiwara. NTSC, Region Code 2.
