Dissatisfied with life, 27-year-old office worker Taeko takes a holiday in Yamagata, northern Japan. Raised in Tokyo, Taeko yearned for a country lifestyle since she was a child and during the trip recalls events from when she was in fifth grade and realizes it was a time of change. Perhaps another time of change has come and she meets Toshio, an enterprising young farmer and discovers the charms of the lives of people living in harmony with nature. The night before she was to return to Tokyo, Grandma starts an unexpected conversation with her.
