Product Description
Reprint of Official Scorebook Ryuichi Sakamoto /05 supervised by Ryuichi Sakamoto, published in 2005. The basis for this scorebook is Ryuichi Sakamotos self-cover album /05 (released in 2005), which mainly features piano performances. 13 songs. 120 pages, slightly larger than A4 size. Japanese language.
The album includes sheet music for "Tibetan Dance" arranged for piano, "A Flower is not a Flower", a solo piano performance of a piece written for erhu player Kenny Wen, "Amore", which Ryuichi Sakamoto said he arranged as a "meditative piece", the instrumental hit "Energy Flow", "Aqua", which Sakamoto himself describes as "one of the simplest songs he has composed", "The Last Emperor", a piano arrangement of the theme song from the film "The Last Emperor", "Happy End", a re-arrangement for four pianos of a song from YMO's album "BGM", a piano version of "Thousand Knives" from his first solo album, "Fountain", which was written for an installation by contemporary artist Takeharu Kogayu, "The Sheltering Sky", the theme song from the film "The Sheltering Sky", "Lost Theme", one of the theme songs from the film "Femme Fatale", "Shining Boy & Little Randy", the theme song from the film "Shining Boy & Little Randy", and more. The scorebook includes the scores for "Randy" and "Reversing", which was included as a bonus track on the international version of the album "BTTB".
One of the major features of this collection of scores is that Ryuichi Sakamoto himself provides commentary on the songs and tips on playing them (in Japanese). In addition, a long interview is also included. The content is extremely valuable, going deep into the music theory part.
Furthermore, the original official scorebook was created with Ryuichi Sakamoto himself being deeply involved in the selection of paper and design. The art director was the late Hideki Nakajima (Nakajima Design), who also worked on Ryuichi Sakamoto's album jackets. The selection of paper with colors and the careful printing that deliberately incorporates "bleeding" and "fading" are the details that were thoroughly worked on. The reprint version follows these details, but has also been newly certified by the FSC for the purpose of forest conservation.
The album "/05" is not just a collection of piano pieces, but a collection of piano arrangements full of ambitious creativity.
