New title. The Indochinese version of gagaku, which originated in China and spread through Korea and Japan is known as the Nha Nhac of the Hue Dynasty. Despite going through a period of colonization and surviving much war damage, it was successfully revived by the tough folk spirit of the people. Including music of the court rituals, dance, instrumental solos and folk songs of Hue, it is a showcase of Vietnamese music. It has been registered as a UNESCO Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2003. Recorded in 1994.
