CD1 previously released as FSD2043, CD2 new title. The Lansang Kingdom reached its height in the mid 17th century. A performance by the Lao traditional music ensemble of the National School of Music and Dance, which continues to pass on the kingdom's music to the present. The ensemble including the khaen, which cannot be seen in Thailand or Cambodia brings a unique taste to the music. The softness that its ballads and folksongs bring are exclusive to that of Laos. Recorded in 1996.
