Akikazu Nakamura is well known in western circles as a shakuhachi (bamboo flute) player who has performed with American jazz players, played at numerous venues in America and studied at Berklee college. On this album he goes back to the roots of shakuhachi, when it was an instrument of the komoso (traveling zen monks) and the Hokuriko district of northeast Japan.
