Latest from the Polka Dot label of vintage southeast Asian recordings. Irama means rhythm in Indonesian and this album is of the fascinating Hawaiian sounds of Indonesia. Hawaiian influences can be heard in Indonesian kroncong music, where ukulele type instruments and Hawaiian steel guitar were usually played. Groups who played almost exclusively Hawaiian music also became popular in 1950s Dutch East Indies. Great CD of lovely tunes from this period. Watch the videos for some musical examples.
