Excellent recording of instrumental phleng kar (wedding tunes) played on tro sau tuch (two stringed violin) tahke- or alligator -(zither) khim (harp zither) skor dai (small drum) and ching (metal percussion). Most villages in Cambodia have their own phleng kar and traditionally the groups are made up of seven wind, string and percussive instruments. Cambodian weddings are elaborate affairs and can last up to three days. Wonderful CD gives a taster for this ancient Khmer celebratory traditional music.
