A masterpiece of Cuban country music, guajira. Guajira is the music of the poor white farmers of Cuba. From the 1930s, the guajira was refined and popularized by the singer and guitarist Guillermo Portabeles, whose elegant style became known as guajira de salon, or guajira son. Ramon Veloz and Coralia Fernandez inherited this style, and created a more dense and contemporary sound together with the Eduardo Saborit orchestra. This album was recorded in 1956, and comes with extensive notes (in Japanese).
