Product Description
Fumio Koizumi (1927-1983) was a world respected ethnomusicologist. He was a professor at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts & Music, and visiting professor at Wesleyan University, Connecticut. He specialised in Japanese folk music but travelled around the world recording and anotating musical traditions. His research materials are preserved in his own memorial room at his Tokyo University, and in 1989, the Koizumi Fumio Prize was established to promote research and performance of traditional music. This 2 CD set is a live recording from December 2013 of Japanese musicians playing traditional styles from around the world. The mastery displayed is quite awe inspiring.
