Master of zen style shakuhachi, Doso Watazumi [1910-1992] was a very influential shakuhachi player. He played a natural, unlacquered instrument, as in order to understand nature and oneself, he said, the shakuhachi has to be in it's rawest possible form. Not just a musician, he also practiced a vigorous physical discipline, shunned organized zen practice and created his own 'way of Watazumi'. This album was originally released in 1974 and is now issued on HQCD. Brilliant.
