Touken Ranbu is a popular online game released in 2016. Players called 'Saniwa' fight against enemies with 'touken danshi' sword wielding spirits of Token Ranbu. Touken Ranbu is now a new kabuki play. The production is based on classical Kabuki and features a variety of innovative elements, such as the playing of two different roles and scenes using Gidayu. In addition, the music during the play features the koto.
Cinema Kabuki features immersive images and sound combining Kabuki and Touken Ranbu, with the theme of the 'Eiroku Incident' in which Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiteru was assassinated.
