Way before Mystere des Voix Bulgares, in 1975 a group of 50 or so Japanese singers had studied and mastered Bulgarian and other eastern European singing styles. Extraordinary at the time, and even though we can hear the real thing easily enough today, still a remarkable pioneering project.
