In recent years 30 year old revolutionary songs have been making a comeback in Vietnam. Many current pop artists are singing 'red music' or 'nhac do'. The Vietnam war ended in 1975 when the North's communist troops swept into Saigon. Since then, many popular pre-war southern songs have been banned, but around 200 songs about the country and its people have been allowed. The songs on this CD range from operatic style female singing, male and female chorus groups, orchestral to folk pop.
