2004 Tsugaru Shamisen Zenkoku Taikai

Tsugaru shamisen is the fast plucking style on the three stringed lute. In the last few years the music has found a new young audience with a succession of new young players, from Shinichi Kinoshita to the Yoshida Brothers and Hiromitsu Agatsuma. All these players came to public attention and started on the road to success by competing in the Tsugaru Shamisen Zenkoku Taiko, the national competition. This is a live recording of the 2004 competition, and is therefore bound to feature some of future stars of shamisen.
