Julie Yeh Feng (formerly known as Wang Jiu-Ling) was born in 1937 in Hubei Province, China. She moved to Taiwan following the creation of the The People's Republic of China in 1949. She became one of the great singing stars of the Hong Kong film world, making some 29 films between 1957 and 1969. Helen Li Mei was another Hong Kong film stars of the 1950s and 60s. Born in 1929 in Hebei province and She later lived in the USA, and passed away in 1994.

Tracks 1-12 are by one of China's 'Seven Great Singing Stars'. Zhou Xian (Golden Voice) is possibly the best known of the seven, a megastar in 1940s Shanghai. These 12 tracks are her last commercial recordings, recorded in Hong Kong for Great Wall Records in 1950.

Tracks 13-22 are by Yao Lee, another of the seven stars. Like many of her contemporaries, Yao Lee fled to Hong Kong to continue her singing career. These 10 tracks are her earliest recordings made in 1950, the year she moved to Hong Kong, and also recorded for Great Wall Records.
