Itsuko Katsushima is the daughter of a legendary Amami island musicain, who has passed down many traditional songs to his daughter and other musicians. She started singing from the age of six and is herself highly regarded for her variety of singing techniques and styles. On this album, her second, she is joined on sanshin and vocals by male singer and sanshin player Hideki Wakasugi. Aside to standard songs are some fairly unknown Amami traditional tunes.
